Baobab and strawberry kefir shot, scrambled eggs on sourdough with Sichuan sauce for gut health and protein fix. A recording from Jeannette Hyde's live video
I love the idea of making my own "gut shot". I often like the idea of a smoothie for the extra fibre and prebiotics but rarely have them because it's either too cold or I'm just too full from breakfast. This would be perfect!
Is boabab better than psyllium husk in your opinion Jeannette? It sounds v similar. I'm not really a fan of the taste of psyllium so maybe boabab is the way to go for me?
Also wanted to add that a tofu scramble made with half firm and half medium firm tofu is my favourite, texture wise, and I highly recommend for anyone wanting an egg alternative. Add lots of spices and some kala namak ☺️ delicious! Must try that chilli oil too.
Baobab different - pectin and polyphenol prebiotics…psyllium used more of a stool bulker. Baobab can do that a bit too. Thanks for the tofu texture tip and the kala namek and spices to give flavour. Will try!
Lovely to see you preparing that yummy breakfast. This morning mine was microwaved mug cake, an adaptation of a ZOE recipe. 40 g of ground almonds, half tsp of gluten-free baking powder, one egg, 2 tsp sesame seeds. Whisked together in an oiled straight sided mug. M/W on high for 90 seconds. Sliced and topped with mashed banana and a couple of blueberries and slices of red skinned apple. It has different nuts, seeds, berries, spices etc added each time I do it. 135mls of my kefir au naturel, as I love the taste.
You can stir it into all kinds of things depending on your taste/texture preferences. Eg it could be sprinkled over fruit salad or berries with some yogurt (dairy or soy). Sprinkled on Bircher Muesli or granola on serving. There are recipes for both those if you look in the search bar of the gut makeover substack web page. There is orange juice in my Bircher and I think baobab would probably go well as it tastes a bit citrusy. Experiment and see what you like.
How lovely to make your own oils. Btw I don’t know which brands to recommend in the US. But look out for organic…anyone else here in this community know a good one? If not, have a look in health food stores. I bet Whole Foods is doing them?
I'm getting around to locating a baobab powder and while doing a necessary immersion into fiber (secondary to a crazy painful hemorrhoid situation) I am finding that baobab is quite the fiber powerhouse. Which you undoubtedly mentioned but I was focused elsewhere. May I inquire if you have any additional go-to ways to incoroporate this powder into your diet. I also struggle mightily with prediabetes and incorporate many things, but thinking this could be a good add to my arsenal.

Hi Hilary thanks so much for sharing that, and what a great way to start the day. So much variety and so quick! Love those mug muffin kind of things.
Loving this series, Jeannette!
Thank you Jane 🤗
So curious about the baobab powder! I dabble in making my own bodyoils and have used this oil.
Do you know of good brands Jeannette? I do live in the US.
I’m loving this series, thank you!

Thank you for introducing me to baobab!
Thank you so much Jeannette!
And again, absolutely loving this breakfast series.
Thank you for tuning in!
