Gluten-free quinoa "bread" for your gut
Plus what to drink with the ⚽️ football tonight, and the problem of "finish your plate!"
You may have noticed I’m creating a capsule wardrobe of essential, basic gut-health recipes all in one place on this Substack.
So a protein-rich gluten-free “bread” with diverse plants, which can be easily frozen and made quickly - has to be a part of that. So here goes…
You’ll recognise a few of my current favourite items in here - high-protein quark and hulled hemp seeds.
Plus I’m introducing a newbie - quinoa flakes. Again protein rich (for a plant anyway) and a versatile grain to feed the bacteria in your gut some different fodder.
Protein fills us up, energises us, helps us retain muscle as we age and there is lots of fibre in this “bread” for your microbiome to feast on at the same time for robust health.
The hulled hemp, pumpkin and chia seeds all contain anti-inflammatory omega-3 oils too, and the almonds and sunflower seeds, plus the polyphenols in extra virgin olive oil, and herbs if you choose them - are food for your gut bugs (and you) as well.
Plant diversity score - 7+ (more if you add herbs)
Protein per slice - 5g+
